Understand What Connects the Experience.

Five layers link a physical context to the people who use the result. Most projects use only some of them.

01 — THE FIVE LAYERS

Five Parts, Many Combinations.

Most projects use only some of these layers. The service links show where each one sits in our work.

01 Source

The site, equipment or process a project is about, and what can be observed about it. Some projects start from a drawing or a task description instead of a live site.

02 Data

How information moves from the source to where it is used. We state whether it is live, recorded or simulated.

03 Model

Where information is represented, explored or analysed. The method depends on the question the project needs to answer.

04 Interface

What people see and use. In our work so far, that means VR training modules and the IASC Connect web platform.

05 People

What a person does with the result: practise a task, review an output or make a decision. People stay responsible for that decision.

02 — WHAT YOU ARE SEEING

Every Example Carries a Label.

Look for these tags on images and demonstrations across the site. Each one tells you exactly what kind of material it is.

RECORDED TRAINING SESSION A capture of a module in use. It happened once and is being played back.
SIMULATED SCENARIO Conditions generated by a model to show how a situation could unfold.
LIVE APPLICATION VIEW The working software, shown as it currently runs.
EXPLANATORY ILLUSTRATION Artwork or a diagram that explains an idea. It is not project footage.
03 — WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM

Live, Recorded or Simulated.

The same interface can show very different kinds of data. We name the source every time.

Live data example LIVE

Live

Arrives from the source as it happens. We only call data live when a working connection has been confirmed.

FOR EXAMPLE Sensor readings on a plant dashboard
Recorded data example RECORDED

Recorded

Captured earlier, then played back or analysed. Most demonstrations on this site start here.

FOR EXAMPLE A recorded VR training session
Simulated data example SIMULATED

Simulated

Generated by a model to explore a scenario. Useful for practice and planning, and always labelled as such.

FOR EXAMPLE A what-if scenario before a real decision
04 — CONDITIONS AND LIMITS

What we check before we show a connection.

  1. 01 Not every project uses every layer. We describe only the ones a project actually has.
  2. 02 A connection appears on this site only after technical confirmation.
  3. 03 A 3D model on its own is not described as a live digital twin.
  4. 04 Essential information works without a headset, WebGL or animation.
